In 2021, School of Liberal Arts at Maqsut Narikbayev University has launched the first educational program in Investigative Journalism to train professional journalists possessing advanced skills and deep knowledge in media, finance, law and anti-corruption legislation. The program successfully went through the national accreditation process by International Quality Assurance Agency confirming that the quality of studies meets the highest standards. In the frames of the program, the Video Studio and Media Hub facilities were designed to entwine the theory and practice. Each of the studios were equipped with professional equipment such as cameras, tripod, lenses, spotlights and lighting equipment, soft boxes, microphones, flash and prompter, including the cyclorama, photo, video and podcast areas.

In 2023, in order to execute the instruction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maqsut Narikbayev University in cooperation with the media holding «TV and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan» has come to decision to open an International School of Journalism on the basis of Maqsut Narikbayev University. For this, one block of the university was renovated and equipped with facilities aimed at practical training of the students in a News Studio, Podcast Area, live broadcasting LED Screen, Equipment Room for the rent of training equipment, Media Lab for editing the sound and video. In addition, new lecture halls and study rooms were designed for the students of International School of Journalism. In the frames of the educational program, students will cover Journalism Skillset, Media Technology, Data Journalism, International Relations and Diplomacy, Ethics and Law modules.
